WORDPRESS × WOOCOMMERCE × MULTISITE

One platform.
Three websites.
Zero duplicated operations.

A large-scale commerce and content system built to connect three customer-facing websites with one operational core—while keeping product discovery, enquiries, customer accounts, and order management working as one experience.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

This was not a brochure website. It was a connected business system.

The platform had to support multiple websites, a shared commerce operation, complex product decisions, customer enquiries, support conversations, and logged-in account journeys. The challenge was making those parts feel simple to visitors and manageable for the internal team.

THE CORE CHALLENGE

Three storefronts could not become three separate admin problems.

Running each site independently would have meant repeating product updates, content changes, order handling, and maintenance work. It would also have made the customer journey harder to keep consistent across the wider business.

I worked on a multisite structure where each website could serve its own audience while products, posts, orders, and day-to-day operations remained coordinated from one place. That shared foundation became the layer connecting every customer-facing feature.

SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE

Separate websites on the surface. One coordinated engine underneath.

WordPress Multisite provided the network foundation. A connected WooCommerce setup handled the shared commercial workflow, while a common content and administration model reduced repeated work across the three sites.

WHAT I BUILT

Six connected systems, designed as one platform.

The value of the project came from how the individual pieces worked together—not from treating each feature as an isolated plugin or page.

01

WordPress Multisite foundation

Structured the three-site network so each property could maintain its own public experience while sharing a coordinated technical and editorial foundation. This reduced repeated administration and made future changes easier to manage.

Three destinations

02

Single WooCommerce operation

Connected commerce across the sites to one operational setup. Product data, customer activity, and orders could be handled centrally instead of creating a separate store-management burden for every website.

Central orders

04

Multi-step enquiry journeys

Turned long, technical enquiries into focused stages. The forms collected the right information without presenting everything at once, while preserving validation, mobile usability, and a clear route to completion.

Lower complexity
Better lead context

05

Chatbot and guided support

Added an always-available support route that could help users find information and move toward the right product, service, or contact journey without searching through the entire website.

06

Customer login and account access

Implemented authenticated account journeys within the commerce experience so customers could reach account-level information and actions from the same connected platform.

HOW THE EXPERIENCE CONNECTS

From a customer question to an operational action.

  1. 01Discover

Visitor reaches the right website, product content, or support entry point.

  2. 02Understand

Guidance, calculators, and structured content simplify a technical decision.

  3. 03Act

The visitor enquires, chats, logs in, or continues through the commerce journey.

  4. 04Manage

Content, customer activity, and orders return to the centralized workflow.

04

ENGINEERING PRIORITIES

The difficult part was keeping the whole system coherent.

Centralize without losing flexibility

Shared operations needed to reduce admin work while allowing each site to communicate to its own audience.

Make technical journeys understandable

Calculators, content, and forms had to translate complex requirements into clear customer actions.

Keep every feature connected

Accounts, chatbot, forms, content, and commerce needed to feel like parts of the same service rather than separate add-ons.

Build for ongoing management

The internal workflow mattered as much as the frontend: updates had to remain practical after launch.

05

PROJECT OUTCOME

A maintainable platform instead of a collection of disconnected websites.

The finished system connected three sites, one commerce operation, centralized content and order management, custom decision tools, multi-step lead capture, support, and customer accounts. It gave visitors a clearer route through a complex product category and gave the business one coordinated place to run the work behind it.

  • 01Centralized content, product, and order workflows
  • 02Consistent customer journeys across three websites
  • 03Custom tools for product discovery and lead qualification
  • 04A foundation designed for continued updates and support
